The Hotel Único is located in a 19th-century palace in the upscale neighbourhood of Salamanca, in the heart of Madrid, with convenient transport links nearby. It offers 44 rooms and suites, a private garden with a lounge, a restaurant headed up by Chef Ramón Freixa (two Michelin stars), an exclusive parking facility on-site, meeting rooms, a library, massage room, fitness centre and all kinds of “made-to-measure” services. Heading up the project is Pau Guardans, the entrepreneurial creator of other luxury urban hotels, such as the renowned Grand Hotel Central (Barcelona) and the The Principal Madrid.
The Hotel Único occupies what once was a stately private residence on Claudio Coello Street, in the city centre, close to museums, the famous Retiro Park, and surrounded by the best restaurants, bars and shops in Spain’s vibrant and dynamic capital city. It is located in the capital’s most upmarket area, at the confluence of the streets Claudio Coello, Ortega y Gasset and Serrano, in what is, by far, the most exclusive shopping area and a privileged residential zone in town.
Architecture & Design
The elegant façade (protected by the public institution for the preservation of the city’s heritage) is the visible face of what is a grand structure featuring modern rooms and suites, with high ceilings and large windows. The classic and palatial character of the building is transmitted, for example, by its solemn main staircase (modernizedby a stunning contemporary restoration by Jacinto Moros) and the marble mosaics in its most elegant areas. This splendid refinement blends perfectly with its modern furniture, warm and neutral colours (grey, stone…), appealing fabrics (linen, velvet, silk …) and cosy corners in the common areas and rooms.
Rooms & Suites
The hotel offers 44 rooms and suites, with 7 different types. A controlled lighting system and comfortable atmosphere create contemporary, timeless and sophisticated urban spaces. In your room you will find a large bed featuring pristine Egyptian cotton, LCD TVs equipped with DVD and Bluray players, a stereo system with iPod, iPhone and MP3 docking stations, a minibar, and free Wi-Fi. The hotel’s modern bathrooms feature furniture designed by Jaime Hayonand are equipped with anti-fog mirrors, hairdryers, and large, sumptuous towels and bathrobes. The spa-like bathrooms are spacious and include large bathtubs and hydro massage showers. Rooms are rounded out by a work/business area.
This exclusive hotel’s best kept secret is its garden. This is the perfect place to have a drink, and a relaxing place to read or just enjoy the sun. A space devoid of the noise common in the city, featuring a modern lounge area surrounded by nature. The terrace is framed bylush jasmine and ivy, where guests can have breakfast in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
Ramón Freixa Madrid
In the garden, accessed through a glass cube, is the entrance to the restaurant Ramón Freixa Madrid, for which the chef was awarded 2 Michelin Stars, 3 Repsol Suns and which Madrid Fusión 2011 called the best restaurant in town.
Wellness & Fitness
The modern Fitness Centre is equipped with Technogym exercise machines and a personal trainer service. A wide range of massages is offered in The Wellness Suite. All of this rounds out the wide range of services at this luxury hotel and residential palace.
Meetings & Events
The hotel has several meeting rooms overlooking the garden on Claudio Coello street. Business travellers will find all the necessary services (projectors, computers, translators…) to organize any kind of event, meeting or conference in any of them. These spaces are also ideal for private dining, customized by Ramón Freixa.
